Fiat Fun

September 25th, 2011

While exploring Sermione earlier today for cars to photograph for the post below I came across a huge classic Fiat cruise. From my limited Fiat knowledge I think the majority were 500′s and Abarth’s. There would have been over 100 cars, they filled both sides of the road and all stopped while people took photos and chatted with the drivers. All of them looked to be having so much fun, this is what owning cars is all about.

On The Streets In Sirmione

September 25th, 2011

After being in Italy for 2 weeks I was surprised I hadn’t seen more Italian sports cars. I’ve only seen one Ferrari and no Maserati’s or Lamborghini’s. Rome and the other main centres have been filled with diesels and eco-friendly small cars, I think they must have pretty high congestion/emission tax. But Sermione has been a refreshing change. Every second car is a BMW, Merc, Porsche, Audi etc. Although still no Italian supercars its nice to see some class. Here are a selection of cars (and one bike) I saw while wandering around today.

A Post About Cars?

September 24th, 2011

Before I went away I searched through my hard drive for old car related photos that I have never posted so I could keep you all entertained while I was away. Ill start posting these over the coming days/weeks/when I have internet access. Here is a photo of Chris’ B110 from 2009 I think? I love this little car. I hope I haven’t lost too many loyal followers with all of the recent travel photos! Stick around guys, the car stuff will be back soon.

In The Wild

I spotted this next to an abandoned/boarded up hotel in Sermione. Looked like it hadn’t been driven in ages!

Sirmione: First Look

September 24th, 2011

We have been using trains alot to get around Italy and they have been amazing and always punctual. You could actually set by your watch by them. But unfortunately that wasn’t the case on one of our trains today as one was late and we only made it to the next one with about 30seconds before the doors shut. After all the rushing we arrived in Sirmione, we are staying here for the next two nights before heading on to Greece. Its a small settlement situated on a skinny peninsular on Lake Garda. Its pretty narrow in some parts and has an old castle on it as well as some first century ruins which we will check out tomorrow. Here are a few shots from our explorations this arvo.
